CHICAGO, October 5, 2026 – While the coolness of autumn crept into Chicago Avenue last weekend, the atmosphere inside the local stores and around the busy sidewalks was lively and warm. The 16th Annual West Town Art Walk came to an end after three days of exhibitions held across Chicago’s West Town neighborhood and turned the commercial streets into an open-air exhibition of artistic talents from the area.
Held on October 2-4, 2026, the event was open to all residents and visitors for free viewing of the installations created by local Chicago artists at various galleries, boutiques, and small businesses. Unlike other events, where the celebration took place in one specific location, this event took place throughout Chicago Avenue and other nearby streets.
The guided choices offered specific routes in the visual environment of the neighborhood. A tour of Chicago brick architecture was the first item on the schedule of Friday, October 2, 5 pm, while public art and mural tours were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4, at 1 p.m. Those who wanted to take a break had the opportunity to use free pedicab services to move around the commercial zones on Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 6 pm.
There were some community events as well; for instance, a food drive organized by the West Town Chamber of Commerce for the purpose of supporting Nourishing Hope. Those people who dropped off their donations were participating in a raffle for the gift basket at Blick Art Materials. There was also the opportunity for people to get an Art Walk button and enjoy special offers.
This yearly custom highlights the long history that West Town has as a center of independent retail, high-end dining, and artistic creation.
