Going to Mars/Celebrating 30 Years

WASHINGTON, DC, February 08, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ — Women In Government (WIG) announced today that Jody Singer, Deputy Director of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, will headline Women In Government’s National Legislative Conference June 21 – 23, 2018 in San Francisco, California.

One of highest ranking women at NASA, Singer manages one of the largest field installations, including nearly 6,000 civil service and contractor personnel, an annual budget of approximately $2.5 billion and a broad spectrum of human spaceflight, science and technology development missions contributing to the nation’s space program. Those include the Space Launch System — the most powerful rocket ever built, able to carry astronauts in NASA’s Orion spacecraft on deep space missions to the Moon and ultimately to Mars.

“Jody Singer personifies the cutting edge practice of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math/STEM including its importance in education, workforce development, and economic development,” said Colorado Senator Nancy Todd, chair of WIG’s Board of Directors.

The National Legislative Conference convenes state legislators, other political leaders and a broad range of stakeholders to address and resolve complex policy issues. In addition, WIG is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year according to Lucy Gettman, Executive Director. “Ms. Singer represents the progress women have made in three decades and our potential for the future.”
